I spent most of my time using Messenger and Facebook during the long break because it keeps me connected with my friends and family. I am a person who makes use of Messenger more instead of texting when it comes to communicating since I do not often spend money for loading. To be honest, I find Messenger far more better than texting.
Of course, my sembreak wouldn't be complete without indulging myself in watching series and movies which I have downloaded ahead of time. I am currently in progress watching How I Met Your Mother which is starred by Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segal and a lot more! They honestly do have the perfect cast.
Twitter and Snapchat come next to the list. I spent equal hours on these both social media sites because whenever I open Twitter, I open my Instagram at the same time. Instagram has been my portal in the past years to showcase my love for photography. I've been sharing my skills in capturing pictures of the scenery of my travels from different countries.
I spent almost 2 hours watching music videos and trailers on youtube. I am not the kind of person who divulge my self watching in youtube. Youtube is my go to place for new musics and free concert videos online.
Last but not the list, Ebay and Zalora. I love shopping. During the break I got fascinated in online shopping and recently indulged myself to luxury brands and watches such as Daniel Wellington and Tommy Hilfiger. I only did window shopping since I ain't got a lot of money to spend at this time.
My own idea of the following terms:
- Technology Literacy - Capability to use, understand and operate various technology and software.
- Media Literacy - Ability to read, understand and respect other people's views and opinions online
- Information Literacy - Being able to group and understand the information gathered
- Media and Information Literacy - Having the capability to not only read and understand information gathered but also distinguish whether the information is a fact or a hoax.
Misconceptions:
- I thought that Literacy is just only about the ability of a person to read but after knowing its definition, it is not only bounded in the person's ability to read.
- I thought media is not good for children.
- I thought that Media and Information Literacy is just a shallow reading and exchanging of information.
- I thought technology literacy means the ability of a person to simply run and operate a device or gadget.
- I thought that information literacy is limited to the ability to understand and simply read information which does not include the reader communicating and sharing information in a creative way.
- I thought media will only be available to people who has internet and TV.
- I did not think that Media and Information Literacy would help me develop my socializing skills since I thought from the start it was limited to just reading and acquiring information.
- I thought that sharing and exchange of ideas do not play a major role in information literacy, I thought it was purely reading and gathering of ideas.
- I thought all things written online are true and valid.
- When hearing the word "media" before, I often refer it to "Social Media" and no other forms.

In your opinion, what makes an individual literate in media and information?
Based on the previous discussion in class, media literacy is defined as the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute, using printed and written materials associated with varying contexts whereas information literacy is also defined as the ability to recognize when information is needed, and to locate, evaluate, and effectively communicate information in its various formats.
From these definitions, I can say that an individual is literate in media and information if he/she is truly aware and fully understands the information that they have gathered. He/she is responsible and has a full control of his or her media experiences. An individual is literate in media and information if they can clearly describe the importance and role of media and information in their lives. Knowing its importance will then make the individuals literate because it will make them skilful and creative in creating and producing media messages. They will know where to look information in various forms of media and they will also strategize find a way on how they could understand and communicate these information through various technological tools and processes.
What activities/habits do you practice which illustrate media and information literacy? Give at least three examples.
1. As a responsible netizen, I am careful with the things I share online. Before I share my excitement and violent reactions on twitter or in Facebook, I make sure that the news is true by searching and visiting acclaimed and reliable sites online. I do not share nor post any fake news in my social media accounts.
2. When it comes to studying for exams, I do not limit myself in books and modules that DepEd has provided us. I make sure to have more information by making use of other forms of media such as the computer as I study for my final examinations.
3. In making reports and projects, I make use of my skills in various tools and software such as Power point, MS Word, Movie Maker and photoshops so I may effectively communicate the data and information that I would want to share.
