This event or occurrence will immediately create a commotion to the community and to the society because it will be promptly be covered by news broadcasters from different networks and will be aired on the television, radio, internet and other social media sites. People who has direct experience on the said occurrence may also post videos and pictures online. Also, the news will be printed on the newspaper in the following day.

How are the presentation of facts vary from medium to medium?

The disposition and the presentation of facts vary from medium to medium depending on the kind of medium used and at the same time the reporter’s source of information. Some may choose to present the information narratively through words, some may also prefer presenting it through pictures. When it comes to the reporter’s source, it can be the information that he was able to gather with his/her own experience or from other person’s point of view and experience.

How do the codes and conventions vary from medium to medium?

The codes and conventions vary from medium to medium depending on the different mediums used. Each mediums have various purposes and ways on presenting the information to the public. Like for example, in various radio station they will not be able to convey information visually through pictures and images, instead the make use of butterfly and eloquent words to inform the public.

How much of these differences will be based on the unique characteristics of the medium?

The differences may not have a huge gap or distance with each other however the purpose and the characteristics of each medium will affect how the information will be spread and presented to the public.

If you will be a reporter, are you going to use the conventional way of how the each media will broadcast the given scenario?

Given the chance to be a reporter, I will not limit and conform myself to the traditional way of broadcasting. Instead, I will coincide my skills as part of this modernizing world and try onto new and various creative forms of media in presenting accurate information to the public.

What will you do to not make your report boring? Elaborate your answer.

My audience is my priority. I will be sensitive to the needs, wants and interests of my audience and I will try on various ways in presenting the information to the audience without any delay. Being creative in presenting the information means putting in symbols, images, and vivid words to capture the audience’s attention.

Would you exaggerate some elements in your report to make it interesting? Why?

Exaggerating elements would be a creative way of capturing the attention of the audience however, this may create a false perception and information to the people. Having a sincere and authentic information is one of the simple things we can do as a citizen of our country. So, as much as possible, I won’t be exaggerating the elements in my report to make it more factual and understandable to the people.

                Ironically speaking, Language is used for communication and interaction with people. Though we could not refuse that due to various language barriers, and different kinds of language used in each countries from all over the world it is possible that people will have different interpretations and understanding of what other people are saying and they too might also have a difficulty in expressing themselves to other people, thus language can also be a source of misunderstanding.

Does the user’s/audience’s own background or experience affect the interpretation of messages? How?

                     Yes, it greatly affects the user’s or audience’s interpretation of messages. Their background or experience serves as their source where they get their information based on how they were born, norms, culture and traditions in the society. They will have different ideas, beliefs and opinions on certain perspectives, events and situations. Their background will affect how they will think and react while interpreting the messages.

Is it possible that a different individual derives a different meaning from the message? Explain.

                It is possible because people have different views, ideas and perspectives towards various subjects. Also their background and experiences affects how the individual interprets the meaning from the messages.

Signs, pictures and symbols attract the attention of people. Also, it is important for people most especially for those who are driving so that they no longer have to read long texts and messages and to avoid congested traffic in the road.

What information codes, conventions and messages about our country is communicated through advertisements?

                   In our country, when advertising a certain person, thing or product, it is our norm to use adjectives that would uplift the item in order to make the possible customers to buy their product. Our advertisements definitely shows the product or item itself. Also they make use of vibrant colors, texts, and a famous personality or celebrity to endorse it. Also the companies would like the advertisement to only advertise truthful information so they will find and catch some hoaxes and spread it through social media sites stating that the post’s information is false. The advertisements in our country is usually seen and communicated through posters, visuals and other print media, and Social Media sites.

If you are to create a postcard for a place or organization of your choice, what technical and symbolic codes would you use to convey important information and create the desired impression? Why?

                    I will be using different angle shots most specifically the wide (or long) shot to show the entire place. I will also be using a vibrant form of lighting so that the audience could see the true colors and elements of the shot. For the symbolic codes, I will be using the Philippine Flag to symbolize that the picture that I have taken was shot in our country.

                    Understanding of the technical and symbolic codes contribute to media and information literacy through understanding how information, ideas and meaning are being expressed and communicated through these codes and symbols. These technical and symbolic codes such as sound, camera angles, types of shots, lighting, dress, language and symbols each portrays various meaning depending on the context and situation. Media and information literacy involves the utilization and understanding of information and recognize when it is needed. Individual must recognize the symbols, evaluate and knows how to apply and effectively communicate these symbols.
